History of AVWC

AVWC originated in 1982 from a small group of Gazebo Connection members singing for pleasure, growing to become a publicly performing chorus in 1993. The choir sang locally and travelled to places such as Edmonton, Calgary, Victoria, and Gabriola Island, as well as to Cincinnati, Portland, Seattle, and San Jose.

We choose music that challenges and inspires us, as we sing to create beauty in our lives and ignite the joy in our spirit. AVWC has shared stages with a variety of performers, valuing the opportunity for fellowship that it brings.

We share a passion for music and community, performing regularly for friends and family, as well as enjoying an active community outreach program, and public events such as street carolling each December. Under the direction of Nicola Hamilton and accompanied by Dan Lauterbach, we are a non-auditioned choir and welcome women of all orientations and levels of ability.
