Mission Statement A Vancouver Women's Chorus is a group of lesbian and lesbian-positive women who come from diverse cultural, political, religious and musical backgrounds. We perform music that is drawn from a variety of styles and represents many cultures in an effort to entertain, educate and share our struggles and strengths. We believe that music is a source of strength and, with women of the chorus and community at large, we strive to bring women's music and its message to life.
AVWC is a non-auditioned choir and we welcome women of all orientations and levels of ability. We take new members at our January and September open rehearsals. This is a brief outline of what we are going to be doing this year as well our expectations for all concerned.
Attendance
It is important you attend all regular rehearsals, outreaches and dress rehearsals. Should you not be able to attend a rehearsal, please contact the Choir phone line at 604-669-0992. If you miss 3 regular rehearsals in a term, our Director will need to speak to you. Anyone not able to attend a dress rehearsal needs to speak directly with the Director.Fees
We have 2 terms, a Fall and a Winter/Spring. The fees for each term are $100.00.Rehearsal Protocol
During rehearsal time we work hard singing and helping each other. We believe in having fun and have set aside time during the break to mingle and enjoy each other's company.Perfume
Out of respect for your fellow choir members please refrain from wearing perfume and scented hair products at rehearsals and at concerts.Music learning
Consistent attendance at choir rehearsals is the best way to learn and polish our music as a group. The Director will also provide section specific rehearsal CD's at the beginning of each term. These CD's are meant to help choir members learn and practice music in between rehearsals. AGM Our annual general meeting will be held at the end of October prior to that night's rehearsal.
